Description
Henfield Place is a large double L-shaped house that has elements from various periods, with some parts believed to date back to the 14th century, although most of the exterior is from the 18th century. The house has two storeys and an attic on the east side, featuring six windows on the north facade, three on the west, and two windows along with one dormer on the east. The exterior is faced with stucco and has an eaves cornice. The hipped roof is covered with Horsham slabs, and the glazing bars are intact. There is a central projection on the north front supported by columns that create a porch. Between 1889 and 1891, the house was rented for the first seminary of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Southwark, with the Principal being the Reverend Francis Bourne, who later became Cardinal Bourne.
