Description
Oldbury Cottages is a house that was originally a hall-house, dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 17th and 19th centuries. The building is constructed of random flint with red brick dressings on a moulded brick plinth, except for the right-hand bay, which is made of brick. It features a plain tiled hipped roof with a catslide extension at the rear. There is a ridge stack on the right and a large stone-dressed chimney-breast on the left. The house has two storeys with an irregular arrangement of windows, including four on the first floor and three on the ground floor, all of which are casements. The two ground floor windows on the left have segmental heads. There are two entrances, with the right entrance featuring a boarded door, both set in segment-head surrounds and paired off-centre to the left. Inside, there is a crownpost roof. The easternmost bay is likely the solar wing, which was rebuilt in the 17th century and modified later. The westernmost bay serves as the service end and may be a 16th-century cross-wing.
