Description
House. Built around 1640, the house was significantly altered in the 18th century when a bay was added and an outshut was constructed, with further changes occurring in the 20th century. It is a timber-framed building, with the ground floor refronted in brick using a Flemish bond pattern, and the upper floor tile-hung. The roof is tiled, featuring a central brick chimney stack. The front has three modern casement windows with leaded lights and a modern door with side lights. The rear elevation includes an 18th-century outshut with exposed timber framing to the ground floor, tile-hanging above, and a two-story 20th-century brick extension. The interior retains the timber frame, including a mid rail on a deep plinth, a plain axial beam to the central room, and mainly plain floor joists. A cambered beam is visible above an open fireplace. A parlour features a spine beam with a 1-inch chamfer and run-out stops. The roof structure includes a queen post, collar beams, clasped purlins, and diagonal tension braces. On the first floor, there is a three-plank oak door with old hinges, and a two-plank cupboard door.
