Description

A late 18th or early 19th century mansion, now Aldingbourne Hospital. The building is two storeys high and originally had seven windows across the south front. It is constructed of white brick with a stuccoed stringcourse, cornice, and parapet. The centre of the south front features a curved bay of three windows on each floor. The ground floor windows are round-headed. A large verandah, added around 1814, extends across both floors and originally featured slender coupled iron columns and a cornice of lacy ironwork; the sides are now glazed. The west front is characterised by two curved bays of one window each and two lunette-shaped dormers. A balustraded portico is located between the bays, incorporating four pairs of Doric columns, with two Venetian windows on the first floor above the portico. Modern hospital additions have been made to the north.
