Description

Newplace Farmhouse retains part of a large house built by Sir Thomas Palmer in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. It is three storeys and has an attic in the gable end, with five windows. The farmhouse is constructed of red brick, and the lower part of the roof is covered in Horsham slabs, while the remainder is tiled. A central projection features a doorway and a window above. Flanking this projection are two tall, blocked four-centred archways that rise to the height of two storeys. On the second floor, an original window contains two tiers of six lights, with wooden mullions and a transom, and one small lancet window. Other windows are modern casements. A modern buttress is also present.
