Description
The Bunch of Grapes is a public house with a 17th-century core, substantially recased in the mid-20th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone with stone dressings, and has gabled stone-tiled roofs. The original construction was rendered and timber-framed. The building has an L-shaped plan, incorporating a small terrace overlooking the Market Place. It is two storeys high with an attic. Most of the facades have been refronted with 2- and 3-light mullioned windows, which replace earlier 18th-century sash windows; these have dripstones above them. A mock Tudor arched doorway is on the east front. The west wing, facing the terrace on its south front, retains two original mullion windows. One upper-floor window is 5-light, and a lower-floor window survives with only 3 lights, both of which are currently being cemented. The building is listed for group value.
