Description

The Cleve is a house incorporating a late 18th-century encasement of a 17th-century structure. The main part of the building is built of painted brick with an old plain-tile roof, featuring a 20th-century brick end stack to the left and a ridge stack to the right of centre. It has a two-story, three-window front, with a central six-panel, part-glazed door protected by a flat hood. A 19th-century wooden oriel window with three lights and leaded casements is located to the left, and a similar window with four lights is on the right. Three three-light casements are found on the first floor. The left return shows timber-framing with rendered infill, while the rear displays timber-framing with painted brick infill. Inside, the ground floor features chamfered spine beams and joists. The roof is of a queen post design. An addition to the right, likely from the early 18th century, is single-story and attic with a single bay, and is constructed of timber-framing with painted brick infill and an old plain-tile roof.
