Description

The Rectory, built around 1835, is designed in the Gothic style. It is constructed of stock brick and features a slate roof, stone dressings, and brick or cemented chimney stacks. This L-shaped building has two storeys and three windows on the main front. The principal elevation includes a projecting central gable with stone kneelers and a plaque displaying a crest. There is a central three-light oriel window, flanked by two-light cambered sash windows, and a three-light sash window on the ground floor to the right. The central entrance features a stone arched doorcase with a hood moulding and shields in the spandrels, leading to a double door with an arched panelled wooden door, blank shields, and sidelights, accessed by three steps.

On the right side elevation, there are two paired cambered sash windows with glazing bars. The left side elevation has two cambered sashes with Gothic glazing and a sawtooth cornice. The building is topped with clustered square brick chimney stacks. Inside, the period features include arches and four-panel doors leading to the staircase hall, a staircase with turned wooden balusters and chamfered newel posts with finials and pendants. The dining room and drawing room boast elaborate plaster cornices, while the kitchen includes a wooden corner cupboard with serpentine shelves.
