Description
1 Middle Row is an 18th-century building that was established as a market in 1716. It stands three storeys high with a narrow frontage and features a stuccoed front and a hipped tiled roof. The building has a parapet and a modillion cornice. On the second floor, there are three very narrow sash windows, although the glazing bars are missing from their lower halves. The first floor has one similar window and an unusual large curved bay window with six lights, which narrows to a point to create the effect of a fanlight, with the glazing bars intact. Above the bay window, there is a balustraded parapet. The shop window is curved but has modern plate glass. The entrance features a doorcase with pilasters and a rectangular fanlight.
