Description
Slippery Sam's Inn is a timber-framed cottage that dates from the 17th century or earlier and was refaced with red brick in the 18th century. The building has two storeys and features a steeply-pitched hipped tiled roof. It includes two casement windows and a modern gabled porch. Inside, there is an inglenook fireplace. Originally named Stone Street Farmhouse, it was renamed after a farmer nicknamed 'Slippery Sam', who was the leader of the smuggling group known as the Hawkhurst Gang.
