Description
No 7 North Lane is a pair of houses connected by an archway, dating from the 18th century. The facade is stuccoed, concealing earlier timber-framed structures. The buildings are two storeys high with an attic. No 7 features two windows, while No 8 has four windows, plus one window above the archway. Each house has three dormers and an eaves cornice. The ceiling beams span the carriageway between the houses, but there are no visible signs of timber framing elsewhere. Both houses have sash windows with intact glazing bars. No 7 includes a central doorcase with a round-headed door and three steps leading up to it. No 8 has a recessed doorcase with two stone steps and an early 19th-century shop front with a three-light sash window. Nos 1, 2, and Nos 4 to 15 form a group with these buildings.
