Description

House. Dating from the 15th century, it was altered and reclad in the late 16th century. The farmhouse is timber-framed and faced with red brick in English bond, with tile hanging to the rear. It has a plain tiled roof. The building stands on a ragstone plinth with a hacked-off plat band and box eaves to the hipped roof, which has stacks positioned to the left and right. There are three large wooden casements on the first floor and two on the ground floor, with a central French window. The central portion of the building was rebuilt, possibly replacing a two-storey porch. On the right-hand return side are blocked-up three-light brick mullioned windows with label hoods on each floor, alongside a 6-panelled door set within a 19th-century kneelered porch. Inside, you’ll find moulded cross-beamed ceilings and inglenooks. The roof’s end features moulding and jointing that indicate jettying at that end before the front wall was rebuilt.
