Description

Woodchurch Windmill is a smock mill, likely built in the late 18th century. It is one of a pair of mills known as 'the twins', both of which were relocated from another site. The Upper Mill, which was from the early 18th century, was moved from Place Lane, stopped working in 1910, and was later demolished. The Lower Mill, which is still standing, was moved from Susan's Hill and ceased operations in 1926. The ground floor is constructed of tarred brick, while the upper part is faced with weatherboarding. The mill features sweeps without shutters and has a boat-shaped cap that was damaged at the time of the last survey in 1976. The fantail remains intact.
