Description
Great Engeham Manor is likely a 15th-century timber-framed building of two storeys, originally with plaster infilling between the timber members. The northernmost window bay exhibits curved braces, and its first floor overhangs due to protruding floor joists. The remainder of the ground floor was rebuilt using red brick. It forms the north wing of a Wealden house. The roof is tiled, and the chimney stack dates to the 17th century. There are four casement windows with wooden mullions and diamond-shaped leaded panes. A smaller bay is present on both floors, containing a window with two tiers of seven lights on the ground floor and one tier of five lights above. The interior includes a 15th-century dais beam to the original open hall, but the roof is not original.
