Description
Bury House is an 18th-century building that stands two storeys high with an attic. The symmetrical front, facing east, features five windows and has a short set-back wing to the south with one window. It has a hipped red tile roof and rendered walls, with stone coping along the parapet. The openings are plain, and the sashes are set in reveals. The doorcase is adorned with an open pediment supported by triple brackets, enclosing an arched doorway. Above the doorway is a broken entablature with Doric half-columns that are fluted, a fanlight, and a six-panelled door. The north end of the house is constructed in red brick and has a symmetrical facade with two two-storeyed angular bays, some of which have filled windows while others retain sashes. The rear elevation, facing west, has four dormers above seven windows. Adjacent to the house is a stable block from the 18th century, which was extended in the 19th century. This stable block is one storey with an attic, features a red tile roof, four gabled dormers, and red brick walls. There is a low front boundary wall with iron railings and a central wrought-iron gate, which continues to the north as a high red brick wall with buttresses.
