Description

Blae Grove House is an 18th-century building with later 19th-century additions, originally known as Bleakgrove Farmhouse. The west facade presents a symmetrical design typical of the late 18th century, with three windows and a hipped tile roof. The red brick walls are laid in Flemish bond, featuring rubbed flat arches and an oval arch above the central doorway constructed with a stone keystone and impost blocks. Sash windows are set in exposed frames. The doorway has a brick reveal, a plastered interior beneath the arch and in the tympanum, and a moulded band above panelled pilasters. It features a six-panelled door with two glazed panels at the top, and a stone step. A two-storey rear south wing is of earlier construction, with casement windows. A rear north-side extension dates to the 19th century, and a recent flat-roofed extension is also present.
