Description
A row of four cottages, likely with a core dating to the late 17th century, but largely refronted between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The ground floor is built of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern; the first floor is tile-hung. The roof is tiled, with one square brick chimneystack and two end chimneystacks. The cottages are two storeys high with attics, and have four windows each. Two dormers are present. Four casement windows are visible. Number 2 has one original early 19th-century casement window with pintle hinges; the ground floor windows are replacements of a 1930s metal-framed design. Numbers 3 and 4 have flat weather hoods supported by brackets. Numbers 1 and 2 feature modern doorcases, with Number 2 having a penticed entrance. The rear elevation of Numbers 3 and 4 has a double-hipped roof and casement windows. Inside Number 2, there is a large spine beam and an open fireplace containing graffiti dated 1784, along with several sets of initials, one identifiable as 'W.N.'.
