Description
Luxford House, formerly known as Lower Standard Hill Farmhouse, is an interesting L-shaped house dating from 1702, though it exhibits characteristics of late 17th century architecture. The building is two storeys high and features four windows. It is constructed of red brick with grey headers and has a wooden modillion eaves cornice beneath a tiled roof. The windows are casements, arranged in two tiers of three lights each, with wooden mullions and transoms. The doorway has a bolection moulded surround and cornice, which displays the date 1702 and the initials "G.L.", along with a six-panel door. The gable ends are adorned with a stone stringcourse, long and short quoins, and coping. The back wing of the house is of a lower elevation.
