Description
The Parish Church of All Saints is a Grade I listed building located on Laughton Church Road. The church features a nave that is cemented, a chancel made of knapped flints, and a tower constructed from stone rubble. It includes a chancel, nave, west tower, and south porch. The tower, known as the Pelham Tower, is adorned with battlements and Pelham bucklers in the label stops. The church dates back to the 13th century, with some perpendicular windows, while the chancel was rebuilt in the early 19th century and the south porch was added in the 19th century as well. This church serves as the burial place for the Pelham family, including 40 members such as the Duke of Newcastle, who was a Prime Minister; however, there are no memorials marking their graves. Inside, there is a perpendicular chancel arch and a single-framed roof featuring tie-beams and kingposts.
