Description
The Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul is a Grade I listed building located in Hellingly Village. It is constructed of rubble with stone dressings and has tiled roofs. The church features a chancel, a north chapel known as the Horselunges chapel, a nave with aisles, a north porch, and a west tower. The chancel and the north chapel display transitional Norman and early English architectural styles. The nave and aisles date from the 13th century and include 15th-century windows. The tower was rebuilt in 1836. Inside, there are remains of a Norman font and a brass of a lady from around 1440. The churchyard is circular and situated on a mound that dates back to pre-Christian times.
