Description

The Lane Memorial, erected in 1898, is a drinking fountain built in memory of Lieutenant Colonel Henry Lane (1827-1895). It has a square plan, with each side featuring an aedicule above the base. The memorial is constructed of stone and red marble, with marble pilasters or columns on each face and a stone pediment above them. At the top of the four aedicules, there is a smaller section that includes four clustered red marble columns supporting a large stone top-piece. The memorial is listed for its local historical significance rather than its architectural features.
