Description
Church House is a T-shaped house located on Main Street in Beckley. The back wing dates from the 17th century, specifically 1626, while the front section is from the 18th century, featuring a rainwater head dated 1744. The building has two storeys and an attic, with five windows and three gabled dormers. It is constructed of red brick, with brick pilasters flanking the front, a stringcourse, and a moulded cornice. The panelled parapet conceals the dormers. The windows have cambered head linings and intact glazing bars, with the central first-floor window featuring an elliptical relieving arch and keystone. The doorway is adorned with fluted pilasters, a triglyph frieze, and a projecting cornice. The south front includes two canted bays on both the ground and first floors. Inside, there is 17th-century panelling and a staircase.
