Description

Bird Place Cottage is a late 17th-century cottage that has undergone significant alterations. It is timber framed with painted brick infill, and has a tile roof with a gable. The original five-bay front has been modified; the north front shows two bays of timber framing at ground level, while the remaining three bays have brickwork on the ground floor. There are six sash windows with glazing bars, irregularly spaced, with two on the left-hand side breaking the eaves with gablets. The ground floor windows are a mix of 20th-century casements, some leaded, and a 20th-century square bay with a hipped tile roof incorporating an entrance door to the left, sheltered by a flat hood supported on cut brackets. A 19th-century chimney is located in the first framed bay from the right.
