Description
This chest tomb, dating from the mid-18th century, is located approximately 5 metres south of the south aisle of the Church of St Mary the Virgin. It is made of marble and limestone ashlar and features a rectangular base that once had iron railings. The tomb has a chest shape with moulded ends that return on both sides, adorned with panels depicting drapes and cherub heads, all beneath a moulded top. The inscription on the tomb is faded but includes the date 1759. This tomb is noted as a rare example of a marble chest tomb.
