Description
Berrybarn and the adjoining barn are two cottages and a barn located on New Road in Brighstone. The cottages date back to the early 18th century and feature an end chimneystack house that was extended to the left in the early 19th century, with a barn added further to the left.
No 1 Berrybarn has a front made of black headers with red brick dressings, and an ashlar gable end with brick tumbling. The roof is peg tiled with end brick chimneystacks. This cottage is two storeys high and has four windows, including two hipped dormers with casements. There are four blocked early 18th-century window openings and two three-light casements. A 19th-century white brick porch with a slate roof and round-headed arches leads to a six-panelled door, of which the top two panels are glazed. There is a later outshut made of stone rubble with red brick dressings and a slate roof.
No 2 is an early 19th-century cottage constructed of coursed clunch. It features one hipped dormer and one casement window. The barn to the left is made of stone rubble with red brick dressings and has a slate roof.
