Description

These are a group of four terraced houses, numbers 4 to 7, dated approximately to 1825 and likely designed by Amon Wilds and Charles Augustin Busby. They are constructed of stucco, with slate roofs that are Turnerised (a decorative treatment) except for number 4, where the roof is hidden by a blocking course.

The houses are three storeys high with a basement, each with a single window. There is a round-arched entrance to numbers 5 to 7, the fanlight above the entrance to number 6 is blocked, while the entrance to number 4 has a flat arch. The ground floors have banded rustication. All the properties have first-floor balconies supported by cast-iron brackets, with cast-iron railings. Traces of a verandah are visible on numbers 5 to 7. To the right of each entrance is a two-storey segmental bay with tripartite windows (windows divided into three separate lights). All windows are flat arched. The bay to number 5 is canted, extending almost the full height and stopping just short of the entablature and blocking course. Sashes of the original design are present in numbers 6 and 7: the ground floor has 8x8 sashes in the centre and 2x2 sashes to the sides; the first floor has French doors with 3-pane sidelights, margin glazing, and glazed transoms; the second floor of number 6 has 6x6 sashes. Each house has a single dormer window—flat arched with a simple segmental pediment to numbers 4 and 7, flat arched to number 5 and segmental arched to number 6. Party wall stacks are visible.

The interior has not been inspected.
