Description
Long Lodge is a detached house, now used as offices, dating from the late 18th century with later additions. The house is constructed of plum and stock brick, with an old tiled roof extending to a parapet. It is two storeys high. The central three-bay section is of plum brick, while the later, slightly projecting four-bay ranges are located to the left and right. The windows are square gauged brick headed sashes, with flush frames to the central range and horned, recessed frames to the outer ranges. The windows have glazing bars. Square headed entrances are positioned at either end of the left wing and to the left of the right wing; the entrances to the right and centre are architraved and corniced, with a pediment above the central entrance. The doors are from the late 20th century. The centre range features a rebuilt pediment. The interior has not been inspected. The house was formerly the home of Frederick Shields, a Pre-Raphaelite painter.
