Description
Nos 266 and 268 Northfield Avenue, known as the Odeon Cinema, were built around 1932 by architect Cecil Massey. Originally named the Spanish City Cinema, the interior features a Spanish style design by Theodore Komisarjevsky, characterized by a tent-like roof, corbelled projections resembling turrets on the side walls, and Moorish arches. The foyer boasts elaborate ceilings supported by heavy enriched beams. Although the exterior is relatively plain, it includes a frieze and cornice in Spanish style, adorned with six finials.
