Description

Chesil House, originally known as “The Chestnuts,” is an 18th-century building of two storeys and an attic, containing five windows and four dormers. The house is constructed of red brick with a string course, cornice, and parapet. The main portion features two Venetian windows on the ground floor, distinguished by fluted pilasters between the lights. Above are three similar windows on the first floor, with a central, pedimented bay containing a lunette window in the tympanum. A fine porch is present, supported by fluted Corinthian columns and featuring a pediment and semi-circular fanlight. A projecting two-window section is located at the north-west end of the building.
