Description
A terrace of houses located in the City of Westminster, built in the mid-19th century. The buildings are constructed with a Portland stone façade and represent a balanced architectural composition. Numbers 12, 12A, 21, and 22, along with numbers 16 to 18, project slightly forward. The terrace rises five storeys plus basements, with some houses featuring mansard attics. Each house is three windows wide. The ground floor is characterized by channelling, paired porches supported by Corinthian piers and inset arches, and slanted bows. First floor windows are surmounted by pediments, and a continuous balcony of cast iron runs along the first floor level. Cornices are present above the windows of the second and third floors. All windows are square-headed with architraves, and feature sash and casement glazing with plate glass. A dentil cornice is visible, though partially simplified. Cast iron area railings are also present. The terrace forms part of a cohesive development surrounding the garden square.
