Description
This is a row of houses located on the east side of Ennismore Gardens, in the City of Westminster. Dating from the mid-19th century, the houses step downhill along the garden’s slope. They are constructed of stucco, with channelling to the ground floor. Each house has a three-window frontage and features four storeys above basements, with some houses having mansard attics. The entrances are located within projecting porches with Doric columns. The windows are square-headed on the lower floors, but those on the third floor are segmental-headed, all with architraves. The first-floor windows are grouped as triplets, each under a common cornice which culminates in a central pediment. Cast iron balconies are present on the first floor. The stucco cornice is particularly rich on numbers 44, 51, 54 and 56, but is generally more simplified elsewhere. Cast iron area railings are also present. The row forms part of a cohesive development with numbers 1 to 34 in Ennismore Gardens.
