Description
The Royal Oak Public House is a later 19th-century building on a corner site in Canning Town. It is constructed of painted stock brick and stucco, standing three storeys high. The ground floor features rusticated stucco quoins and pink and grey granite pilasters. The main and side entrances are pedimented. Segmental window openings are found on the upper storeys, surrounded by stucco. Pediments are present above the first-floor windows. A bracketed stucco cornice runs along the top, culminating in a pedimented central feature. A splayed corner is surmounted by a pedimented panel bearing the name ‘Royal Oak’, and a similar return is found on Oak Crescent. A wrought iron screen is positioned at the main entrance, leading to an entrance lobby with a tiled mural depicting oak leaves and a mosaic floor. The interior was not inspected.
