Description

Notting Hill Gate Underground Station, specifically the District and Circle Line platforms, was built in 1868 by Sir John Fowler for the Metropolitan Railway. The station features brick retaining walls with blind arcades that support an elliptically arched iron roof consisting of nine bays. This roof is partially glazed and partly panelled with wood. The station is noted as a relatively well-preserved example of an underground railway platform of the "cut and cover" type.
