Description
Swan House is a house built in 1876, designed by architect R. Norman Shaw. It is a four-storey building with a basement and dormers, featuring mostly seven windows. The house has a red brick exterior and a tiled roof. Notable architectural details include a carved cornice at the eaves and overhanging first and second floors, with the second floor projecting beyond the first, supported by brick piers. The first floor has three wide oriel windows with curved returns and semi-circular-headed central lights, all fitted with leaded panes. The second floor windows are long and narrow, with glazing bars, and alternate windows are three-sided oriels with single brackets beneath. The central entrance is adorned with a swan motif above the door.
