Description

TQ 2777 NE CHEYNE WALK SW3 63/5 24.6.54 No 4 GV II*

  1. Four storeys, basement and dormers. Four windows. Brown brick. Added upper storey with battlemented parapet. Band at third floor sills, moulded cornice band at second floor, with flanking red brick. Doric pilasters through ground and first floor and plain brick piers above. Red segmental arches and dressings and stone keys to windows. Flush framed sashes with glazing bars. Wood doorcase with fluted Corinthian pilasters, moulded architrave, swept up in centre, carved brackets and hood. L.C.C. tablet commemorating residence of George Eliot, novelist, who died here in 1880.
