Description
This is a row of eighteen-century buildings, originally designed as three-story, two-window structures, though they have undergone alterations over time. The majority are constructed of stock brick, but numbers 22, 24, 38, and 40 have stucco facades. Parapet fronts largely conceal the roofs, although occasional high-pitched tiled roof sections are visible. The buildings generally feature sash windows, many of which retain glazing bars. Numbers 32 and 34 have moulded stucco architraves, which are segment-headed and shouldered, and a second-floor band. Ground-floor shops are present. The dates of construction vary: number 24 was built in the early to mid-nineteenth century, number 26 in the late nineteenth century, number 28 is modern, number 30 in the late nineteenth century, numbers 32 and 34 are modern, numbers 36 and 38 in the early twentieth century, and number 40 is modern. These buildings are included on the list for their group value. Numbers 24 to 42 (even) are recognised as a group.
