Description
The tomb of Reverend Thomas Ainger, located in St John's Churchyard, is a Bodystone type tomb dating from around 1863. It is made of granite and features a plinth inscribed in Gothic lettering. The top of the tomb is adorned with a full-length elaborate openwork metal cross, which is flanked by an incised chalice and Bible. Surrounding the tomb are attached scroll pattern cast and wrought-iron railings. Reverend Thomas Ainger served as Prebendary of St Paul's and was the incumbent of St John's for 22 years.
