Description
A terrace of nine houses built around 1813 for William Benham. Numbers 4 and 5 were rebuilt in the mid-20th century. The houses are constructed of yellow stock brick with red brick dressings. They are three storeys high, with a single window on each floor. Each house has a round-arched doorway with a stuccoed tympanum, except for numbers 4 and 5 which have a penthouse roof extending over their square-headed doorways. The windows are flush-framed sashes with gauged red brick flat arches; numbers 4 and 5 have ground floor bay windows. Parapets top the buildings. Number 1 has a stone plaque inscribed "Benham's Place, 1813." William Benham was a grocer and cheesemonger based on Hampstead High Street. The interiors have not been inspected.
