Description

Denmark Bridge House is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century, with extensions added in the 18th century and a reroofing in the 19th century, and alterations made in the 20th century. It is timber-framed and has roughcast rendering. The roofs are covered in black glazed and red pantiles. Originally built as a two-cell lobby entry plan house, it was extended with one bay to the left and a taller cross range to the right. The house has two storeys. A 20th-century gabled brick porch now occupies the original central entrance, flanked by 2-light 20th-century windows. The left side of the main range has small-pane casements on the first floor. An axial ridge stack has been rebuilt. The 18th-century bay to the right features ground-floor glazing bar dual sash windows and first-floor dual cross casements, topped with a hipped roof and ridge stack. The rear of the main range is a single storey with an attic, featuring cornices to half dormers. Inside, the house retains stop-chamfered cross axial binding beams, jowled posts and a frame that is largely concealed and altered.
