Description

The Grove is a building that is said to date back to the 16th century, with alterations and additions from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. It has two storeys and an attic. The entrance front has been reconstructed in red brick and features a 17th century Dutch gable, along with rusticated jambs to the windows and a segmental drip mould above, which may replace or extend some original work from the same period that still exists. The roof is partly slated and partly tiled, with most of it having been renewed. The entrance includes an 18th century six-panel door and a porch supported by square columns. Inside, there is a 16th century oak stair leading from the first floor upwards and a fine Adam mantel. The building is located on the main road from Lowestoft to Beccles.
