Description

Hartest Place is a timber-framed and plastered house dating from the 16th to 17th centuries, with later wings. An 18th-century wing extends to the north-east and south-east, while another extends to the north-west. The house is two storeys high with attics.

The north-east front features three window bays, with double-hung sash windows containing glazing bars. A central entrance has a six-panel door topped with an elliptical fanlight featuring radial glazing bars, and is sheltered by a wooden Doric doorcase with plain columns, frieze, and cornice. Most other windows are casements. A small Venetian window is located on the north-west side.

The roofs are tiled, with a central chimney stack on the north-east wing, comprising four grouped octagonal shafts rising from a square base. Two flat-headed dormers are visible on the north-east front.
