Description
St Peter's Rectory is an early 18th century house located on Forncett Church Road in Forncett St Peter. The building is constructed of colour-washed brick and features a steep pantile roof with shaped gable ends. It has two storeys and attics, with attic windows situated in the gabled ends. The facade consists of a 1:3:1 bay arrangement, with the central three bays flanked by brick rusticated pilasters. There is a string course at floor level, and the windows are sashes with glazing bars in exposed cases.
The central doorway is notable for its brick rusticated pilasters and doorcase, which includes reeded pilasters and entablatures, as well as fielded panel reveals and a fielded panel door. Above the doorway, there is a fire insurance plaque. At the rear of the building, there are two wings; one has a gabled roof while the other features a hipped roof. The attic window in the west gable and the windows in the rear wings are early 18th century mullion and transom casements with leaded panes.
Inside, the ground floor room includes fielded panelling, and there is a contemporary open well staircase with turned balusters and a moulded rail that ramps up to column newels.
