Description

Incleboro House is a 17th-century house, dated 1687, with significant alterations from the late 18th century. It is located on the Lower Common in East Runton. The house is constructed of gault brick and flint, with brick dressings, and has a glazed black pantile roof. Originally a four-cell plan, it has later additions to the rear.

The building is five bays wide, with two storeys and an attic. It features sash windows with glazing bars, some with horns, set beneath flat, rubbed brick arches to the ground floor. A central doorcase has pilasters with fluted neckings, a fascia with a central urn and swags, and a plain cornice. The door itself consists of six fielded panels, with an overlight above. First-floor windows are sash windows under soldier arches. Paired timber modillions are prominent along the eaves cornice. The attic has three casements with moulded timber pediments. Kneelers are located at the stepped gables. Chimneys are present as gable-end stacks and an off-centre axial stack.

The left-hand gable wall is of flint, featuring a moulded red brick platband and a datestone. Below the datestone are two blocked brick ovals set within rendered reveals and decorated with diapering. The building is also referred to as Ingleborough House.
