Description
Choseley Farmhouse is a building with two distinct phases of construction. The core of the property dates from circa 1600, with a substantial alteration and front addition made around 1840. The rear section is built of flint with brick dressings, while the front pile is constructed of slip-laid carstone with brick dressings. Both sections are roofed with red pantiles. The farmhouse is two storeys high with attics in the rear portion.
The front is in a Tudor-Gothic style and features two ground floor and two first floor three-light casement windows, set within brick frames. Stucco drip moulds are present on the ground floor windows only. A central gabled entrance bay has been brought forward. The central doorcase is stuccoed and has a four-centred arch with a drip mould head and central rectangular hip. There is also a single first floor three-light casement window with a drip mould head, and a brick-dressed ventilation slit above. A bargeboard finishes the gable. The front features brick quoins, kneelers, coped end gable parapets, and two paired round brick stacks with decorated shafts and moulded caps. Crested ridge tiles are also present.
The rear section, dating from circa 1600, incorporates details from around 1840 on a south-facing projection to the west of the front pile. The rear and end gables have blocked brick-dressed windows of circa 17th century origin, which have been cut down to match the current roof pitch. There are two end and one axial stacks dating from circa 1840, constructed of round paired brick with moulded bases and caps.
