Description

Frogmore House is a main house dating from 1725, and re-fronted in the earlier 19th century. It is a two-storey building with three windows, constructed from painted brick and topped with a parapet and a slate mansard roof. The recessed sash windows have glazing bars and margin lights, each set within a gauged, flat brick arch. A modified Doric porch, enclosed and with flat pilasters, is present. A rainwater head featuring a lion mask and the date "1725" is located on the north return. A one-storey, one-window link connects the main house to a north wing, also of two storeys and two windows. This link has a slate mansard roof with a dormer behind the parapet and a recessed sash window with glazing bars. This link and the wing are of painted brick, dating from the early 19th century and featuring a low-pitched slate roof and wide, two-light recessed sash windows with glazing bars. A single sash window is present at the right of the wing, above a passage to the rear. A three-storey, three-window south section, also of painted brick with a parapet and low-pitched hipped slate roof, dates from the early 19th century and features gauged, flat brick arches to recessed sash windows with glazing bars. A two-storey, one-window link, also from the early 19th century, connects this section to the main house. It has narrow windows; the upper one is plain glass, and the lower one has margin lights and diagonal bars. The Garden Cottage and Frogmore House form a group.
