Description
The buffer lights on Platform 1 at Hertford East Station are supported by two cast-iron fluted columns with bell caps. These columns date from around 1843 and were reset in 1888 after being relocated from the earlier station, which was built in 1843 by the Eastern Counties Railway. The original station was situated further east along Railway Street and was demolished in 1964 after it had served as a goods station.
