Description

Border Cottage is an 18th-century red brick house located on the west side of Elephants Green in Newport. The building stands two storeys high with attics and features a parapet topped with a dentilled cornice. The front facade has three windows, which are double-hung sashes with glazing bars set in flush cased frames. A central six-panel door, with the upper panels glazed, is flanked by panelled reveals and panelled pilasters, topped with a cornice. To the east of the door, there is a canted bay window, and to the west, a square bay window. The roof is tiled and has a mansard design, featuring two dormer windows and an end chimney stack.
