Description
This is a house dating from circa 1550, originally timber-framed and later partially plastered with painted brick, featuring an 18th-century front facade. The roof is gabled, covered with peg tiles, and incorporates a large chimney stack shared with the adjacent property at No. 31. The front of the building has four 19th-century casement windows with central horizontal glazing bars, each set under a segmental arch and fitted with painted timber shutters. The central entrance is accessed via a lean-to porch with a sloping roof. A single-story lean-to extension is located at the northwest end.
The house was originally a two-bay open hall dating to circa 1550, exhibiting heavy timber framing, large internal wall bracing, and substantial arch bracing to the central hall. A tie beam remains in situ. The roof structure consists of a housed side purlin roof with long curved wind bracing, supported by broad “V” struts. A fireplace (inglenook) has been infilled at the southeast end, and a floor was inserted in the 17th century, covering the entire ground plan.
