Description
The Crown Public House dates to the 16th century, originally consisting of one and a half bays. It features an exposed timber frame with plaster infill, alongside a three-bay extension built around 1700 on its west end. The ground floor is constructed of red brick, with a range of six windows and a central front door, each featuring six panes. The first floor has three sets of three-pane casement windows. The roof is ridged and gabled, with a central chimney stack built of red brick, and a more modern stack at the east end. The ground-storey ceiling retains good oak joists. The Crown Inn is referenced in a deed for "Uppergrounds" dated 1691.
