Description
Foxton House is a house built in 1825 for William Hurrell, with later extensions from the 19th century. It is constructed of gault brick, with a hipped slate roof and a side stack. The house has a double-pile plan and two storeys. The south-east front features three recessed sash windows with twelve panes each on the first floor. A parapetted brick porch, likely added later, has an open, round-headed outer arch flanked by pilasters. The garden front has three window bays with similar sash windows. A glazed veranda with brick end walls and a lean-to roof extends across the ground floor, divided into five bays with two smaller bays at the ends. Each bay of the veranda has an arch with tracery to the spandrels and trelliswork to the sides. An outbuilding within the grounds has dressed clunch walls and red brick quoins. The interior is reported to contain a fine staircase.
